It is located S of Attiki Odos, WSW of Kifissia and W of Kifissias Avenue, W of Marathonos Avenue, N of Athens, NE of Peristeri, E of Kifissou Avenue and SE of Acharnes. The main street of the suburb is a road linking with Pefki, Dekeleia Avenue and Patission Avenue.

The area was made up of farmlands and forests. The forests have been partially saved in the many squares and in the several parks today. In the early to mid-20th century, urban development replaced much of the farmlands. Today, much of the municipality is urbanized while the businesses are along the main roads. Many of the trees are aligned with the streets and in the squares and parks of Nea Filadelfeia. The biggest park to be found is called Alsos Neas Filadelfias, which covers almost 480 square meters of land and hosts many different trees. In the past it used to be a zoo as well as a park.
Nea Filadelfeia has 9 Primary schools, 4 Secondary Schools (one of them is athletic type) and 3 High Schools. Among them is the 3rd High School of Nea Filadelfia "Miltos Kountouras", famous for the events and educational projects it frequently organizes through the school year.
The AEK sports club was established in Nea Filadelfeia in 1924. In particular, the Nikos Goumas Stadium was the home ground of AEK Athens FC from 1930 to 2003.
